Jones had two brief stints on Milwaukee’s big league roster this year. He made 12 appearances, starting seven of them. Jones went 2-23, drew one walk, and struck out 10 times. It’s technically his third season logging MLB time but his most extended action to date. Jones played in a combined nine big league games with the Rockies and White Sox from 2024-25.
A former first-round pick by the Rays, Jones has played for five organizations over a seven-year professional career. He’s a fantastic runner but has struck out too often to carve out an extended big league landing spot. The UNC-Wilmington product has fanned in more than a third of his plate appearances in his minor league career. He struck out at a 29% clip in 40 games for Triple-A Nashville this year, though he turned in a strong .289/.423/.380 batting line across 149 plate appearances despite the whiffs. He stole 21 bases in 25 attempts.
The Brewers have run Jones through waivers twice this season. The second career outright gave him the right to elect free agency, where he’ll likely be limited to minor league offers. Jones was drafted as a shortstop but is primarily an outfielder now. He started one game at second base for Milwaukee.
