Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly asserted that Egypt’s agricultural sector is undergoing an unprecedented transformation in line with the state’s vision and strategy to expand agricultural and livestock production, with the aim of meeting domestic market needs and boosting Egyptian exports in this vital sector, which is considered a key pillar of the country’s sustainable and comprehensive development efforts.
Madbouly made the remarks during an inspection tour of a number of agricultural and livestock production projects in the governorates of Giza and Beheira.
He was accompanied by Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk, Deputy Minister Mostafa al Sayyad and several officials overseeing agricultural and livestock production projects.
The prime minister noted that, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the government placed food security and rural development at the forefront of its strategic priorities, helping transform long-standing challenges in the sector into promising development opportunities.
Madbouly added that the government is also continuing intensive efforts to develop the livestock sector to strengthen food security, secure citizens’ needs for meat and dairy products, narrow the gap between domestic production and consumption, stabilize the local market and reduce reliance on imports.
He said the government is continuing its field visits to private-sector agricultural and livestock projects as part of efforts to encourage greater private investment in these areas and address any challenges facing investors, reflecting the state’s firm belief in the private sector’s vital role in driving development, attracting investment, and supporting economic growth.
For his part, Farouk said the government adopted a comprehensive strategy to maximize the productivity of livestock farms and production stations by upgrading existing facilities and establishing modern centers equipped with the latest scientific methods in breeding, production and genetic improvement, with the goal of building a sustainable national production base that supports stable prices for red meat and dairy products.
Farouk added that the government is implementing these ambitious plans by improving livestock breeds, enhancing the efficiency of farms and production stations, engaging the private sector and civil society organizations in the development process and upgrading milk collection centers.
