His office confirmed the news on Sunday, July 12, stating he died the previous evening following a "brief and sudden illness." No additional details were provided.

According to police scanner audio obtained by NBC News, emergency personnel responded to a report of a person suffering from chest pains and cardiac arrest at Graham's Washington D.C. home Saturday evening.
The Senator was scheduled to appear on the network's Meet the Press on Sunday morning, and a senior Graham staffer told the outlet there had been no indication Graham had been feeling ill before his death.
In fact, the day before his death, Graham met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Ukraine, announcing that same day an agreement with the Trump administration to advance a package of Russia sanctions.

“He actually said he was tired, but he wanted to pass the SAVE America Act, and I said, ‘Well, we’re going to get it done, Lindsey. We’re going to get it done. I’ll see you, like, soon,’” Trump said, adding that the two discussed potentially meeting on Sunday.
