In the last year, much of the discussion over Duff has been rumors that she and her sister, Haylie Duff, have been estranged for years. In an interview with CBS Mornings, Duff confirmed that a new song on the album, “We Don’t Talk,” is officially about her estranged sister. But she also went a step further, delving into the duo’s estranged relationship.

“It’s definitely about my sister. And just absolutely the most lonely part of my existence is not having my sister in my life at the moment, and really struggled with thinking about including that on the record,” she said, noting that so many people are existing in the world “without their other half.”

Ultimately, Duff said she decided to include it on the record because it’s “her truth,” and it’s just so relatable.

Duff Was Asked if She Hopes Haylie Hears The Song

Duff said she doesn’t think it would help if Haylie heard the song.

“I don’t know if she’ll hear it. I don’t know how she’ll react to it. You know, it is a really personal part of my life that doesn’t get to stay personal. So I might as well say how it is for me, and that’s all I’m trying to do. I’m not trying to say anything bad. It’s literally just my experience — and that’s really all I feel like sharing,” Duff added.

Duff released a video for “Weather for Tennis,” the first song featured on her new record. Her first LP in over a decade thrilled listeners. Click below to watch the stunning video:
