2026 Peruvian Championships

June 10-14, 2026 Lima, Peru 25 meters (SCM) Results

The dust has settled on the 2026 Peruvian Championships, and four swimmers leave the event with new individual national records. Three of them are domestic, one from Uruguay, and two of them are headed to Power Four schools in Kentucky in the fall.

Yasmin Silva is a 17-year-old Trujillo, Peru native who is committed to swim at the University of Kentucky this fall. Silva dropped a 2:10.28 in her bread-and-butter 200 fly to notch a new national record.

This meet marked a continuation of recent on-fire form for Silva, who represents Streamline Club. She recently bagged the long course national record in the same event, racing to a 2:11.86 at the Mare Nostrum stop in Canet.

Another teenage national record breaker in Lima this weekend was 16-year-old Domenico Sotomayor. The rising distance talent hit a 15:16.97 in the 1500. This beat a record about the same age as he is: Sebastian Jahnsen’s 15:21.01 from 2011. Like Silva, Sotomayor also broke the LC record at the Mare Nostrum in Canet. There, he clocked 15:44.52 in the long course event.

In addition to the overall national record, Sotomayor also turned 4 age group records for Juvenil B. These came from the 1500, 800 (8:04.07), 400 free (3:52.38), and 200 free (1:49.49).

The final Peruvian record went to 24-year-old Rafaela Fernandini in the 100 freestyle. Fernandini logged a 54.28 in the 100 freestyle. She raced alongside Uruguayan Angelina Solari, who blasted a 54.18 to snag a national record of her own. Solari doubled up on NRs with a 1:00.07 100 butterfly. Solari is headed to the University of Louisville this fall.
