EastEnders airs emotional confession for Denise Fox in early BBC iPlayer release

With the weight of hiding her cancer diagnosis growing heavier by the day, Denise Fox has finally decided to come clean to her family in EastEnders.

Earlier this month, the beloved character, played by fan-favourite cast member Diane Parish, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia, a form of blood cancer.

Viewers saw her suffering from extreme lethargy, which prompted further testing. The consultant then advised that she start urgent chemotherapy, to increase her risk of survival.

Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) was the first family member she confided in, but before she could tell long-term partner Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), some more nightmarish news reached Walford.

Denise's grandson Jordan (Jahsaiah Williams) had been hit by Ian Beale's (Adam Woodyatt) car, and she rushed off to the hospital to support daughter Chelsea (Zaraah Abrahams) - choosing to ignore calls relating to her own wellbeing.

Eventually, after a tough night spent at Jordan's beside, she returned home and told Jack what was going on.

He joined her for a meeting with a consultant, though when they explained that Denise would have to spend the next month alone on a side ward, she chose not to proceed with treatment and to be there for Chelsea and Jordan instead.

In today's episode, Walford General continued to call her, though she quickly found other matters to preoccupy herself with. Sister Kim (Tameka Empson) was showing off a flashy engagement ring, and revealed that Howie Danes (Delroy Atkinson) had popped the question.

The family decided to throw an impromptu celebration in The Vic, though Chelsea clocked that her mum seemed somewhat distracted.

Meanwhile, across the Square, Jack turned to an unlikely ally for support – Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). He hoped that he could make a breakthrough, though when Phil approached Denise, she warned him to stay out of her business.

At the pub, Kim took to the karaoke machine, and then began making an emotional speech about how much she valued her sister. Denise quickly became overcome with emotion, and after spotting Jack and Phil arriving, darted off to the toilets.

Chelsea followed, and was shocked to hear her mum sobbing through the cubicle door.

After refusing to open up, Denise returned to the bar and decided to address what was going on. With the whole Fox-Trueman-Branning family surrounding her, she revealed her tragic news.

Will she now decide to seek treatment and make a recovery?
