One of the most exciting trailers of Summer Game Fest was an update on upcoming Chinese action-adventure Blood Message.
Made by 24 Entertainment Lin'an, and published by NetEase Games, it will be hoping to be the next in a string of Chinese titles to blow up in the west.

When is the Blood Message release date?
At the time of writing, there is no confirmed release date for Blood Message.
In fact, not only is there no release date, but there's no release window at all – we don't even have a year!
The game was first announced in June 2025, showing off in-game gameplay and cut scenes, suggesting that it was already a fair way into development.
As such, we would expect to see the game release in 2027, with a confirmed release date coming later in 2026, perhaps as part of Gamescom's Opening Night Live or at The Game Awards.
Blood Message takes place during the Shazhou uprising, an event in what is now Gansu Province where general and politician Zhang Yichao seized control of Shazhou and Guazhou from Tibetan rule.
The story focuses on Pei Changguan and his son Ning, who embark upon a journey across China to the capital of the Tang Empire, Chang'an, to deliver an important message.
Dubbed by the developers as "an ode to the unsung heroes," the game will focus more on the ordinary citizen, and their struggle to survive against the backdrop of major historical events; an interesting change from the typically grandiose protagonists of many Chinese titles.
The game will feature fast-paced, third person combat, drawing comparisons with games as varied as Sekiro, Wo Long and even God of War.
Players will also be able to engage with a variety of stealth and survival mechanics, again, similar to games like Sekiro and Wo Long.
