Survivor: China star Jaime Dugan is at the center of a custody dispute involving her 16-year-old son, Harper, after a South Carolina judge ordered her “immediate arrest” for failing to return the teenager to his father, Dugan’s ex-husband and former Survivor castmate Erik Huffman.
According to court documents obtained by the Daily Mail on Sunday, Oct. 4, the judge found Dugan in direct contempt of court for failing to return Harper and failing to appear at subsequent court hearings. The judge also classified Harper as “missing and endangered.”
In a text message statement to the Daily Mail, Dugan said she is “absolutely not on the run” and claimed, “The FBI has not contacted me whatsoever and Harper has done wellness checks with four officers.”
In a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly, a Federal Bureau of Investigation spokesperson said, “The FBI is aware of the public information regarding Jamie [sic] Dugan and her son, however the FBI does not comment on the existence or nonexistence of any investigation. If the public sees Dugan, they should contact local authorities or 911.”
An Instagram account created to raise awareness about the case claims Harper was “last seen with his mother (who does not have custody and has fled the state with him)” in Cayce, South Carolina, on Aug. 30.
On Saturday, Oct. 3, the account shared a missing-person poster for the teen, writing that he is “believed to be abducted” by his mother and “believed to be in danger.”
“He has Autism Spectrum Disorder and has not been able to contact his father who has legal custody or family,” the poster reads.
Huffman, whom Dugan met while competing on Survivor: China in 2007, married Dugan in 2009. The pair split in 2024, and Huffman was ultimately awarded sole custody of Harper, while Dugan was granted visitation rights.
“Throughout my separation and divorce, I’ve desired for Harper to have a relationship with his mother,” Huffman told the Daily Mail. “Harper’s safety and well-being is my top priority right now and getting him back safely is extremely important. We have such a good relationship. I had set up a good routine for him at my home, with school and therapists and tutors and church youth groups.”
“He was really coming into his own and had a very stable life with me. I hate that he’s been ripped away,” he added.
