Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Enfinity Aquatic Club’s Tyler Burton has announced his commitment to Brigham Young University as a member of the 2026 recruiting class.

Burton wrote the following regarding his commitment.

I am excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Brigham Young University! I am grateful to Coach Tamber and all of the coaching staff at BYU for this incredible opportunity. Thank you to my family, teammates, and coaches who have supported me throughout my swimming journey. A special thank you to Coach Serang, Coach Kyle, Coach Tim, and Coach Michel! GO COUGS!!!

Burton hails from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he competed for Ronald Regan High School. This past February, Burton raced at the NCHSAA 7A State Championships, where he won the 100 breast in 55.68, marking his first individual state championship title, after finishing 2nd in this event in 2025 (56.74). In addition to that, 100 breast, he also finished 3rd in the 200 IM, clocking 1:51.04, after not swimming this event at the 2025 championships. The last time he raced the 200 IM at the state championships was back in 2024, where he finished 8th in 1:56.21.

One meet that Burton has repeatedly excelled at is the annual SRVA Shamrock Showdown; this past March, Burton swam several best times, including the 50 breast (25.93), 100 breast (55.46), and 100 fly (49.91). The year prior, he swam his career best in the 200 breast (2:02.88), 400 IM (4:03.00), and the 100 free (47.82).

    Best Times SCY:

    100 Breast: 55.46 200 Breast: 2:02.88 200 IM: 1:51.04 400 IM: 4:03.00 100 Fly: 49.91

The BYU men finished 5th at the 2026 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships last season.

Based on Burton’s best times, he would have finished 26th in the 100 breast, 31st in the 200 breast, and 34th in the 200 IM at those championships.

The breaststroke events were a definite strong suit for the Cougar men last season, scoring 55 points in both the 100 breast and 200 breast at the Big 12 Championships, which was the 2nd most in the 100 breast and the 3rd most of any team in the 200 breast.

When looking at Burton’s progression, the more than second-time drop he saw between his junior and senior seasons in high school jumps off the page, though it still puts him just a touch outside of scoring range at last season’s Big 12 Championships. 24th place at that meet in the 100 breaststroke sat at 54.96m, a half-second off his best time.

Buton is set to join Owen Robertson, Colin Eliason, Blake Madsen, Jimmy Beeson, Grayden Barker, and Gavin Willyerd in the Cougars’ 2026 recruiting class.
