You might take the team forward in the future.’ During matches and series, I try to learn from my mistakes. What I can do better as a player and captain. I had that mindset, and I was prepared to lead. I’ve got the opportunity at the right time, and I want to carry it on,” he added.

Tilak has the privilege of sharing the dressing room with one of India’s most successful captains, Rohit Sharma, at the Mumbai Indians. The two share a bond, and Tilak has learned from him since his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2022. He’ll take those learnings and apply them for India A and won’t shy away from providing inputs to Shreyas.
“With Rohit bhai, I don’t talk much about batting but about captaincy. I learn a lot just by watching him, and then I ask him what his mindset is under pressure. I try to learn those little things from him, and he guides me. I take those learnings and bring them here for India A. Whatever inputs I have, I’ll convey them here and to (Shreyas) Iyer,” Tilak concluded.
