Bulls Lose Franchise Legend Stacey King at Age 59

Chicago Bulls legend Stacey King has left us way too soon, according to a team press release. He was just 59 years young.

King, the No. 6 overall pick out of Oklahoma State in 1989, developed into a beloved role player center for three champion Chicago clubs from 1991-93. Overall, he spent eight seasons with the Bulls franchise as a player, ultimately returning as a beloved commentator in retirement, where he remained through the end of 2025-26.

Known for his incredible player nicknaming ability (“Big Sexy” for Kurt Thomas was a great one, as was “Jimmy G. Buckets — the ‘G’ stands for ‘Gets'” for Jimmy Butler), King quickly became a fan favorite as a broadcaster. Cause of death has yet to be divulged.

He’ll be greatly missed by the Chicago faithful. Bleacher Nation’s thoughts are with his friends and family at this time.
