Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) has made a disastrous return to work amid his online harassment ordeal in Coronation Street.
Earlier this year, Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) raised concerns about his classmate Will Driscoll's (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) relationship with their teacher Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon).
At the time, she was also seeing Daniel, and claimed that Will's feelings for her were nothing more than a schoolboy crush. She was also pregnant, and told the police that the reason she hadn't told Daniel is because she wasn't sure whether he was ready to be a parent again.
Police were concerned whether Will could be the father, and urged her to get a DNA test – but she refused.
This cemented to Daniel that she was lying and he ended their romance.
Since then, he's slowly spiralled, and was suspended from Weatherfield High after lashing out towards Hope Dobbs (Isabella Flanagan), who was asking personal questions about Megan. He subsequently hid away in his flat, telling his family that he was on holiday in the Lake District.
While undercover, Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) discovered the truth and the pair have struck up an unlikely friendship. Daniel seemed to be on the path to recovery, though then fell victim to a cruel online hate campaign which had been orchestrated by her.
He was relieved when the posts – which were under the username Truthteller – suddenly stopped. However, an imitation account was set up, and following that, he was attacked by a group of teenagers in the street who were brandishing ketchup bottles.
In today's episode, he was finally allowed to return to teaching, though the day got off to a bad start when he spilled coffee down his shirt. Jodie had bought a gift for Daniel on son Bertie's (Henry Duggan) behalf, and he warmed to see it was a 'World's Best Teacher' mug.
On this way into school, Jake Windass (Bobby Bradshaw) and Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft-Gardner) began questioning what he knew about Megan, and the latter reeled off a number of Truthteller2's posts.
Lily then purposely slammed into him, smashing the mug, and he broke down in tears. On the floor, he cried out for the pupils to move away.
Hope rushed over and ordered those around her to stop taunting him, before sitting at his level and holding his hands. Daniel was touched by her thoughtful behaviour, though was thoroughly embarrassed and leapt to his feet, ordering them all to class.
Later that night, after being refused service in the Rovers, Daniel drowned his sorrows in the precinct park. Megan strolled past and he grabbed her face, saying that she had ruined his life.
Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) noticed the altercation and dragged him away, warning that he was only making matters worse.
Will Daniel be able to get the help he needs?
