Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, with Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif to review the results of a study on developing and reforming Egypt’s education system.
Madbouly said education remains one of the state’s main priorities because of its role in building future generations and preparing students for labor market needs.
The meeting came after the presentation of the study during the “Future of Education in Egypt” conference.
The minister reviewed findings from a study prepared by UNICEF, which said that Egypt’s education system is witnessing rapid reform and notable progress in several indicators.
According to the study, school attendance rates increased from 15 percent to 87 percent, while classroom density in primary schools declined from 63 to 41 students between the 2023/2024 and 2025/2026 academic years.
The study also pointed to progress in addressing shortages of teachers in core subjects, improving Arabic language skills, and expanding classroom capacity through the reuse of school spaces.
