Garth Brooks has a vision for a Nashville neighborhood—and he's determined to see it through. The country music icon recently attended Urban Land Institute’s 2026 Spring Meeting at the Music City Center where he spoke about the city of Nashville and shared how much his life has changed since moving there—and since he and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, officially opened their bar, Friends In Low Places.
"Miss Yearwood and I both came to this city with just our dreams," Brooks said of Nashville, according to a "breaking news" piece posted to his official website. “This city has given us our life together. It’s like our second home … our second family. We want to be part of the community. So, we bought the building, bought the management rights to do it, and really have enjoyed being in on every detail."
The decision to open a bar in the "Neon Neighborhood"—a phrase coined by Brooks to describe the Lower Broadway area of the city—came about with plenty of emotion.

Brooks and Yearwood were delighted to open their first bar and the two couldn't have chosen a better spot.
"If you are one of the lucky ones who come to this town and receive its many blessings, don’t you owe something to Nashville?” Garth said ahead of the bar's grand opening, adding that he "owes a lot to Music City."
