Monroe County Legislature meeting
The Monroe County Legislature will hold several votes at its meeting on Tuesday night at the County Office Building on West Main Street.
That includes a vote on whether to approve a settlement with former Rochester Police Officer Denny Wright, the officer who was blinded in a stabbing while he responded to a domestic call in 2019. Monroe County doesn’t comment on pending litigation, so details about this settlement are limited.

Rochester traffic enforcement meeting
The City of Rochester wants to get the public’s opinion about whether to bring automated traffic enforcement to the roads. They’re part of the “Vision Zero” initiative, which aims to reduce Rochester’s number of deadly crashes to zero.
The city’s series of meetings continues on Tuesday. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the Edgerton R-Center on Backus Street. At the meeting, you can learn more about the automated traffic enforcement proposal and share your ideas or concerns. Here is the schedule for the rest of the meetings:
Tuesday, May 12: 6 p.m. – Edgerton R-Center, 41 Backus St. Wednesday, May 13: 6 p.m. – Thomas P. Over 60 communities across the U.S. have signed “Vision Zero” pledges. As News10NBC has covered, Rochester’s rate of deadly crashes is among the highest of any midsize city in New York State. State traffic data shows Rochester has about 10 traffic-related deaths per 100,000 people each year.
Lilac Festival day five
Highland Park is once again full of live music, food, games, and the fragrant scents of lilacs. Tuesday marks day five of the 128th annual Lilac Festival.
Day five will feature music headliners curated by the Rochester Music Hall of Fame. Scott Mayo, a former member of the legendary group Earth Wind & Fire and a 2024 hall of fame inductee, will be among the performers at the KeyBank Center Stage. The multi-instrumentalist has also performed on albums for Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Paul McCartney, John Legend, and Sergio Mendes. He will perform with Prime Time Funk.
Tuesday also marks the second day of the Lilac Local Farmer’s Market, which will feature fresh fruits, vegetables, handmade goods, and more. The festival runs through Sunday, May 17, for a total of 10 days in a row. You can see News10NBC’s guide to the festival here.
Job fair in Geneseo
Livingston County Workforce Development is holding a job fair on Tuesday featuring over 20 employers. Its happening at the government center on 6 Court St. in Geneseo. It runs from 4 to 6 p.m. and aims to fill over 250 open positions.
