Raising Kanan star to reprise character role in new franchise show Power: Origins

Leslie Grossman is bringing Queen Flossie back to the Power universe. The actress will reprise her role as Florence "Flossie" Siegel in Starz's incoming prequel Power: Origins, Deadline reports.

Grossman recently played the character across the final season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and she is now set to return in the new prequel, which picks up after the events of the Raising Kanan series finale.

When audiences last saw Flossie, she refused to help Raquel "Raq" Thomas (Patina Miller). Later linking up with Jukebox (Hailey Kilgore), she was told through a letter from her murdered father Marvin (London Brown) that Flossie was the only person she could trust.

As for where that leaves things for Flossie's story going into Power: Origins, we'll just have to wait and see.

Power: Origins shifts the timeline back to the beginnings of three of the franchise's most enduring figures, tracing the origin stories of Ghost, Tommy and Kanan as ambitious young operators determined to make their mark on the streets of New York City.

Starz describes the show as "a fun, rambunctious exploration of a new time period in the Power franchise that will highlight the unbridled audacity of young men on the rise, determined to become legends in the game".

The series stars Spence Moore II as young James "Ghost" St Patrick, and Charlie Mann as young Thomas "Tommy" Egan, with MeKai Curtis reprising Kanan Stark from Raising Kanan.

The cast also includes Jennifer Ferrin as young Kate Egan and Jason Dirden returning as Traymont Stinson, alongside recurring players including Zuri Reed, Lenny Platt, Everett Osborne, Hill Harper, Tonya Pinkins and Grossman.

Power: Origins is the fourth spin-off in the Power universe, following Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan and Power Book IV: Force. A fifth spin-off, Power: Legacy, set in the present-day timeline after the events of Force, has also been greenlit at Starz.

The prequel is created by Courtney A Kemp and Sascha Penn, with Penn serving as showrunner and executive producer from a pilot he co-wrote with Kemp. Executive producers include Kemp through her End of Episode banner, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson through G-Unit Film and Television, and Mark Canton through Canton Entertainment, with Lionsgate Television producing for Starz.

Production on season 1, which shot in New York and New Jersey, has wrapped. Starz has released a teaser trailer for the series but is yet to confirm an official premiere date, with recent reports pointing to a possible late 2026 launch.
