A group of new cast members have been confirmed for culinary thriller film Tyrant, which is being written and directed by David Weil and is currently in production in Los Angeles.
Harry Potter TV series star Paapa Essiedu, Heated Rivalry's Hudson Williams, musician Omar Apollo and fashion and lifestyle creator Nara Smith have all joined the film's cast, which already includes Charlize Theron, Julia Garner and Demi Moore.
According to Deadline, the film is said to be a high-stakes thriller in the vein of Wall Street and Whiplash, set within New York City’s elite fine dining scene.
This will be Weil's film debut, with the writer and director having previously worked on series including Hunters, Solos, Invasion and Citadel.
Essiedu, who will be playing Severus Snape in the new Harry Potter series, was most recently seen in BBC drama Babies, starring alongside Siobhán Cullen.
Asked whether acting in two projects which are so varied – one being fantastical and the other highly naturalistic – was different, Essiedu told Radio Times: "Yes and no. Obviously, with a show like this, we come into rooms and we try and make them look lived in. The clothes that we wear are humbling. There is such a focus on creating reality, which I suppose is slightly different from fantasy.
"I guess in our processes, whatever realm we're in, we're still trying to hopefully dig into something that feels truthful or feels believable and honest."
View Green Video on the source websiteHe continued: "But the surroundings, and I guess the style of performance or connection is slightly different in the fact that [Babies] has got way more of a fly-on-the-wall feel, where the camera feels a little bit more stepped back and observational, rather than the cameras doing crazy drones or whatever.
"And I think both require great skill to be able to navigate, so I wouldn't say one was easier or better or anything than the other, but I think we all definitely bought into the overarching question of the way we wanted to execute this story."
Meanwhile, Williams, who was shot to fame by the success of Heated Rivalry, will soon be seen starring in Netflix series The Altruists, about the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX. The series will also star Garner, Anthony Boyle, Matt Rife and Alex Lawther.
