From coast to coast, the stars came out to support the debut of THE THIRD EYE: Early Photographs, a new collection of over 200 photos taken by the iconic George Harrison while he toured the globe with the Beatles from 1963 to 1970.
Publisher Random House shared a series of snapshots to Instagram this week taken at two separate events held in celebration of the book: An evening in New York at Brooklyn’s BAM Opera House featuring a conversation between Martin Scorsese and Olivia Harrison illustrated with George’s photographs, and a Los Angeles launch at Robert Frost Auditorium feted by the likes of Ringo Starr, Cameron Crowe and Rita Wilson.
The first image in the carousel of pics showed Starr posing with the book, flashing his trademark peace sign; the next shot captured Starr and Olivia posing together. The remaining snaps included more shots from both events, including Scorsese and Olivia chatting onstage in front of a large screen displaying photographs from the book.
According to George’s official website, THE THIRD EYE: Early Photographs is “the first ever collection of George Harrison’s personal photos taken between 1963 and 1970” and features “more than 250 color, black & white images and 8mm movie stills.”
“The book captures The Beatles at work and at play around the globe from Miami to Paris to Adelaide to the South Seas and home again all through George’s lens,” the description continued.
“I like cameras because you can see things in a different way,” George was quoted as saying, “and you can make things look how they feel instead of how they are.”
