PSL 2026 captured the headlines because of a ball tampering allegation during a Lahore Qalandars vs Karachi Kings match, which was held on March 29 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
During the last over of the second innings, when the Kings were on the batting side, chasing a target of 129, the Qalandars were accused of tampering with the ball. Qalandars’ Fakhar Zaman and a few of his teammates were allegedly involved in the ball tampering instance.
The field umpire noticed something unusual was happening, and he called the Lahore players. Gohar Shah, the owner of Multan Sultans, who was away from the venue, got to know about the suspicious act during the match.

In protest of the incident, he raised his voice and expressed his concerns through a social media post, which was later deleted. Because of the social media post, which had gained momentum, Gohar Shah had to sustain a massive backlash. During the recent podcast, he explained the entire episode.
“Lahore Qalandars are really annoying. I just don’t like how they behave, especially their fan base. I’m not pointing any fingers at the owners or the players,” Gohar Shah said in the conversation on The Burger Stop Podcast.
“I tweeted that I thought the ball was getting a pedicure. Later, I’m not sure, the umpire called the player in and ruled him out for ball tampering. I was 30 kilometers away at home on my phone. I had no direct link to the umpire. He’s the one who made that decision. I had nothing to do with it,” he added.

Shah claimed that he intended to point out the incident, which did not seem fair. But some of the people took his words in a different way, accusing him of being anti-Pathan and anti-Lahore Qalandars.
“My only fault was that, as a spectator watching the game, I felt something was happening to the ball. It didn’t seem fair, so I pointed it out. But it turned into a huge issue, with people saying I’m anti-Pathan and anti-LQ. They may not be my franchise’s enemy number-one, but they’re enemy number one for me,” the owner of the PSL franchise, Multan Sultans, expressed.
