Patrick Przyczyna set another age group record on backstroke on day 4 at the Aquatics GB Championships, clocking 25.68 in the junior final of the men’s 50 back. He lowered his own mark of 26.02 from the heats yesterday morning, having initially set the record at 26.40 in January.

He now sits 37th all-time on the British rankings, and is the 10th fastest Brit so far this season. His time would rank 4th among U.S. boys in the 15-16 age group, behind only Michael Andrew, Daniel Diehl, and Jack Aikins, with over 12 months left before he turns 17.

This marks Przyczyna’s second age group record of the meet, having shattered the 100 back standard with a 54.92 swim on day 3. That lowered his best coming into the meet by over a second, and is 1.48 seconds clear of the next-fastest British 15-year-old.

His swim tonight was 0.74 seconds faster than Rio Daodu‘s 26.42, which stood as the record until Przyczyna claimed it in January. Daodu was in the senior final last night, touching 4th in 25.33.

Przyczyna also neared his lifetime best in the 100 fly, swimming 55.87 for 48th overall and qualifying for the junior final, but scratched to prioritize the 50 back.

Daniel Ransom of City of Leeds swam a huge lifetime best of 1:59.11 in the 200 IM to fall just 0.22 seconds outside Tom Dean‘s British Junior record of 1:58.89. Dean clocked that time in the final of this meet seven years ago.

Coming into this meet, Ransom’s PB stood at the 2:02.00 he swam in February to take the win at the Yorkshire Swimming Championships. He swam 2:04.30 at this meet last year, which he dropped to 2:02.79 at the European Junior Swimming Championships in July.

He was faster on every stroke than he was 12 months ago, with his biggest drop coming in freestyle. His breaststroke split last night was the second-fastest in the field, just behind Filip Nowacki‘s 33.63, and moved him from 7th to 3rd.

Of note, Ransom will not age up until February next year, giving him 10 months to try to crack Dean’s record. He qualified for the European Junior Championships this summer, and despite coming in half a second off the English consideration time for the Commonwealth Games could be selected for that team as well.

Theodora Taylor was another junior to show out, setting a new age group record in the 50 fly. She lowered Eva Okaro‘s record by 0.01 seconds to take 4th in 26.46, adding a third swim to her Commonwealth Games schedule for Wales this summer.
