The White Sox will be giving away limited-edition “Pope hats” during a game this summer at Rate Field.
The ticket giveaway will be part of the promotion plan for the team’s Aug. 11 game vs. Cincinnati, now themed “Pews at the Ballpark.” The hats will be part of a specialty ticket package, which allows fans to sit in a “designated area.”
Fans will need to present a Pope hat voucher in order to receive the giveaway as the hats will not be given out stadium-wide.
It’s the latest Pope-themed event for the Sox, who announced their 2026 schedule with a Conclave theme in honor of the first American-born pope, who is a confirmed fan.
Pope Leo XIV also delivered a special message to Chicago during a special celebration at Rate Field last year.
The hats are part of the team’s “specialty ticket offerings,” which also include Pride hats for Pride in the Park, “It’s not a phase” shirts for emo night, Nickelodeon Slime Bucket Hats for Nickelodeon night, custom Pokémon Go-themed jerseys for Pokémon Go Night.
