With a new MLB season upon us, we will get to see the unveiling of a new slate of City Connect uniforms around baseball for a handful of clubs. The concept is still one that I really like, even if cynical merchandising is probably a key motivator, and even if the actual execution has been mixed.
The slate this year really runs the gamut from super original and good-looking, to kinda cool but ugly-looking, to really stupid and also really ugly, to simply boring and unoriginal.
The Brewers for example, went for the combination of (1) really ugly, and (2) a locational nickname that you totally definitely hear people saying all the time:

— MLB (@MLB) April 9, 2026The Pirates, meanwhile, played it safe and went with a uniform that barely looks different from their usual fare at all (which I assume was intended to match their very good, but very boring ace):

— MLB (@MLB) April 9, 2026The Padres can’t top their vibrantly-colored one from a few years ago, but this is pretty good:

— MLB (@MLB) April 9, 2026The Reds seem to like doing pretty normal uniforms but funkifying their ‘C’, which meh:

— MLB (@MLB) April 9, 2026The Braves have a good, classic look this year, but I’m starting to get a little over the powder blues everywhere:
