ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A Rochester City Council member is speaking out against a proposed 5G cell tower on the city’s northeast side.
This is Verizon’s second proposal for the corner of Oneida Street and Portland Avenue. Councilmember Michael Patterson, who represents that area. spoke at a public hearing Monday before the city Planning Commission.
Multiple people who live in the neighborhood came to Patterson to get the proposal shut down. Their primary concerns were property values, visual impact and children’s safety.
“As a matter of fact, it’s a worse proposal than the original proposal because it looks — it actually looks worse than the original proposal,” Patterson said.
