The company organizing Colombian superstar Shakira’s concert announced the postponement of her upcoming performance, originally scheduled for April 7th in front of the Giza Pyramids, to November 28.
This will be Shakira’s first appearance in Egypt in 19 years, since her last concert there in 2007.
The organizers said in an Instagram statement: “Due to the situation in the region, Shakira and her team have decided to reschedule her highly anticipated Las Mujeres ya No Loran world tour stop in Cairo from April 7th to November 28.”
The statement added: “We know this comes as unwelcome news, especially given how close the date was. However, we promise it will be worth the wait. The good news is that Shakira’s fans from all over the world will now be able to attend, as the new date falls on a more convenient weekend.”
“If you already have a ticket, it will remain fully valid for the new date. Refunds and returns are also available through Ticket Egypt. We appreciate your understanding and will keep you updated on any further developments,” it concluded.
A highly anticipated concert
Shakira originally announced she had begun preparing for a massive concert in front of the Giza Pyramids on April 7th.
She shared a short video on her official Instagram account, in which she addressed her fans in Arabic, saying: “Hello, I’m Shakira. I’m so happy to be performing in Egypt, in Giza, and at the Pyramids. I love you all!”
The message received a wide response from Egyptian and Arab audiences.
The concert is part of her Middle East tour, marking her strong return to the Arab world after an absence of nearly 15 years from performing in the region.
