A United States Secret Service agent on the former First Lady Jill Biden's security detail accidentally shot their own leg while at the Philadelphia International Airport on Friday morning, according to reports.
“On Friday morning, just after 8:30, an on-duty U.S. Secret Service Special Agent suffered a non-life-threatening injury following a negligent discharge while handling a service weapon at the Philadelphia International Airport during a protective assignment,” USSS spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement, CNN reported.
Guglielmi shared that the agent was given medical assistance on the scene and “is being evaluated at an area hospital in stable condition.”
Biden was at the airport but not present during the accidental shooting, USSS spokesperson Nate Herring told PEOPLE. He went on to say that the agent "suffered a non-life-threatening injury following a negligent discharge while handling a service weapon."
"The Secret Service’s Office of Professional Responsibility will be reviewing the facts and circumstances of this incident," Herring continued.
A spokesperson for the First Lady was unable to provide a comment to PEOPLE.

On Wednesday evening, Biden appeared at the opening night of "Public Charge," a new off-Broadway play written by her former chief of staff, Julissa Reynoso. Drawing experience from Reynoso’s experiences working for Hillary Rodham Clinton, the play follows Reynoso’s journey from immigrating to the United States from the Dominican Republic as a child to her work as a diplomat. The opening drew a laundry list of influential political and artistic boldfacers, including Ann Woll, Ana Navarro, Tim Blake Nelson, and Steven Pasquale, according to Broadway World.
Biden smiled brightly alongside Reynoso at the opening and was joined by Ashley and Finnegan Biden.
