In a major ITV scheduling shake up tonight, both Coronation Street and Emmerdale have had episodes pulled from their usual slots.
Both soaps usually air every weeknight for 30-minutes each between 8pm and 9pm. However fans have had Friday's instalment stripped away due to ITV1 airing sports coverage instead.
Neither Coronation Street and Emmerdale will air at all on Friday to instead make room for the England v Uruguay international friendly football game taking place at Wembley Stadium.
ITV1's coverage will begin at 7pm, ready for a 7.45pm kick-off time, on Friday 27 March, meaning Coronation Street and Emmerdale will not air in their usual time slots.
However, to make up for the loss, ITV has scheduled an additional episode of both soaps to air on Sunday instead, so fans will still get five instalment of their favourite show this week, just not at the usual time.
On Sunday 29 March, Emmerdale will air at the earlier time of 7pm, followed by Coronation Street at 7.30pm, both on ITV1.
The additional episodes come just in time for the continuation of the storyline surrounding creepy stalker Mal Roper (Tim Treloar) in Coronation Street.
In an ITVX early release this week, Mal had a "sudden flashback", seemingly remembering who it was that attacked him – but the issue is that he hasn't reported the right man.
Meanwhile, over on Emmerdale, Kim Tate (Claire King) was forced to defend her decision to bestow manor house Home Farm to Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) upon her death. While the rest of her multi-million pound empire will be distributed between her grandchildren – including Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) – he wasn't pleased to learn that his home would be taken from beneath him.
England hosting Uruguay at Wembley Stadium on Friday in an internal friendly match is part of the nation's preparations for World Cup 2026.
Uruguay has proven a tough opponent over the years – with the Three Lions winning just one of their last six games against the visitors, including a costly defeat in the group stages of World Cup 2014.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 followed by Coronation Street at 8:30pm. Both can be streamed now on ITVX.
