Taylor Swift is once again proving her unmatched influence in music, this time helping push U.S. vinyl sales past a major milestone.
In 2025, vinyl revenue in the United States crossed $1 billion for the first time since 1983, and Swift’s latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, played a key role in making that happen.
According to Variety, the Recording Industry Association of America revealed that the total vinyl revenue reached about $1.04 billion, up from $954.4 million the year before. That jump came alongside a rise in vinyl units sold, from 43.4 million in 2024 to 46.8 million in 2025.

At the center of that growth is Taylor Swift, whose album The Life of a Showgirl sold around 1.6 million vinyl copies in a single year. That number is far ahead of any other release, beating the next closest title by over 1.3 million units.
Swift didn’t just release one version of her album; she released eight different vinyl editions, each with unique designs like shimmering, marbled and transparent finishes.
Other top vinyl sellers included Sabrina Carpenter, Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, The Weeknd and Tyler, the Creator.
The vinyl boom also comes as CDs continue to decline. CD sales dropped by double digits in both units and revenue, while streaming kept growing. Paid streaming subscriptions climbed to 106.5 million accounts, bringing in billions in revenue.
Matt Bass, vice president of research at the RIAA, explained the trend:“Fans are consuming music from the artists they love in more ways than ever, and that passion is reflected in today’s report.”
‘The Life of a Showgirl’ Fuels Global Success
Beyond sales, The Life of a Showgirl is also winning praise and awards. The album earned top honors at Belgium’s HUMO Pop Poll, including Best International Album, proving Swift’s reach goes far beyond the United States.
At the same time, Swift continues to break records with her earlier work. Her 2022 album Midnights recently became one of the best-selling female albums of the decade, hitting more than 20 million sales worldwide.
Even as she plans her upcoming wedding with NFL star Travis Kelce, Swift’s career momentum shows no signs of slowing down. Kelce himself praised her work ethic, saying, “It’s amazing to see her keep going… still seeing her have that love and joy in what she does.”
The bigger picture shows just how strong the music industry has become. Total U.S. recorded music revenue reached a record $11.5 billion in 2025, with streaming making up the largest share. Vinyl, however, remains the fastest-growing physical format and now leads all physical sales.
Industry leaders say this comeback is driven by artists like Swift, who turn music releases into full experiences for fans; combining sound, design and storytelling into something people want to own.
