A person is dead and another critically hurt after a stabbing at a residence in Merrillville overnight.
Police were dispatched to a home in the 7400 block of Hendricks Street, with a woman telling a 911 dispatcher that she and her husband were being stabbed inside.
Merrillville police arrived on scene in time to see a male suspect exiting the home, holding his hands in the air, according to authorities.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Officers entered the residence and found two victims who had both been stabbed. One was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
