The Denver Broncos are bringing back arguably one of their best free agents before all the action begins on Monday, re-signing Justin Strnad to a three-year deal.

Denver Broncos re-sign LB Justin Strnad to three-year deal

Outside of Garett Bolles and Courtland Sutton, linebacker Justin Strnad has been one of the longest tenured Denver Broncos on the roster, and he’s developed strongly inside of defensive coordinator Vance Joseph’s scheme.

He’s returning to the Broncos on a three-year deal, as first reported by James Palmer. Strnad was the best on-field linebacker on the Broncos roster last season despite not being a full-time starter. Strnad appeared in 16 games last season and started eight games at linebacker, registering 58 tackles, 4.5 sacks, eight quarterback hits, and one interception while playing 575 snaps (55%) defensively.

    He’s Denver’s best blitzing and run-fitting linebacker.

After the AFC championship game, Strnad acknowledged that he wants to be a starter. His three-year deal is worth $18M with $10M guaranteed, $5.1M guaranteed at signing, which indicates he’ll be a starter at $6M per year at that price point.

As it stands right now, the biggest question surrounding the Broncos at linebacker remains with what the team plans to do with Alex Singleton, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent this week. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler indicated the Broncos were trying to work on a deal with Singleton, but if he returns and Strnad returns, those two would likely be the starters, which puts Dre Greenlaw’s roster status into question if that were to play out.

If the Broncos’ plan is to roll into 2026 with Strnad and Greenlaw, that would mean Singleton would be the odd man out, more than likely.

We’ll see how things play out, and further clarity could come today regarding Singleton and/or Greenlaw, but Denver bringing back Strnad is quietly one of the most important in-house moves they could make ahead of Monday’s legal negotiating period.
