The Bears signed Drew Dalman to a four-year deal worth $42 million last offseason. And the immediate return on investment was extraordinary. Dalman started all 17 games, earned a Pro Bowl trip, and was the team’s Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award winner in 2025. Upon arrival, Dalman helped solidify Chicago’s offensive line by fortifying the interior with fellow newcomers Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson. I figured Dalman would be a major piece of the puzzle for the Bears moving forward as he entered his age-28 season. This surprise retirement changes things.
In March 2025, Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson laid out exactly why signing Dalman would immediately improve Chicago’s offensive line. One year later, Johnson and the rest of Chicago’s front office will be back on the hunt for another man in the middle to snap the ball to quarterback Caleb Williams and keep the offensive line as a strength going into the 2026 season.
