Nahshon Wright penned one heck of a story with the 2025 Chicago Bears.
The 27-year-old cornerback earned a Pro Bowl trip after collecting five interceptions, forcing two fumbles (and recovering three!), and setting new career highs in games played (17), starts (16), total tackles (80), tackles-for-loss (3), and pretty much every category you could imagine. Not bad for a player who was signed in early April and was nowhere near the top of the depth chart when training camp opened in July.
Nahshon Wright is on the cusp of free agency, where he could get a hefty payday. But before he hits the open market, some conversations appear to be happening between Wright’s camp and the Bears.

This is what Nahshon Wright had to say about possibly running it back with the Bears in 2026:

— SiriusXM NFL Radio (@SiriusXMNFL) February 20, 2026Some worthwhile quotes from the nearly two-minute segment above:
Nahshon Wright’s approach to free agency: “Obviously, you want to be taken care of financially. But there’s the part where you still want to be able to compete at a high level. And I think, for me, honestly, I do like to play a more aggressive style of football.” Are there any team fits that stand out? “I haven’t done any deep dives into what teams play similarly to how we did in Chicago. I had a great season in Chicago due to the way we played, so I would love to be back in Chicago. But I don’t necessarily know what’s going to happen.” On conversations with the Bears: “I know they contacted my agent, and we have a meeting scheduled. No contract details have been discussed or anything, but I think there is some interest. I guess I’ll know next week.”This is not the first time that Nahshon Wright has declared his desire to remain with the Bears. Back in December, Wright told 670 The Score that he and his agent discussed what an extension could look like and that he would welcome a new contract with the team. However, he also noted that there hadn’t been any firm conversations with Chicago’s front office. With that being said, Wright mentioning that the two sides have a meeting scheduled feels significant.
TOM BRADY LOVES NAHSHON WRIGHT AND THE BEARS
Over The Cap estimates the Bears are $4,115,355 over the projected $303.5 million salary cap for the 2026 NFL season. So even if Chicago’s front office wanted to bring Wright back, they would need the cap crunchers to get the team out of the red and into the black. And even if that were to happen, I’m not sure if Nahshon Wright would still be in the team’s plans. The Athletic ranks Wright among its top-50 NFL free agents and projects he will receive a three-year contract worth $40.5 million. That might be a bit too pricy for the Bears’ liking, especially with needs at safety and along the defensive line.
What happens with Nahshon Wright is still to be determined. And I like that the team is open to a new deal. But if the price isn’t right, then I can see the cornerback walking out of Halas Hall and cashing in as a free agent elsewhere.
