Georgia high school state runner-up Abby Found has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at Youngstown State University beginning in the fall of 2027. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am beyond excited and grateful to announce my commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Youngstown State University! I first want to thank my parents: my mom for her endless love, support, and sacrifices throughout this journey, and Coach Dad for always believing in me, pushing me to be my best, and helping me chase my goals both in and out of the pool. Second, a huge thank you to my club coaches: Rob, Joe, and Donna – thank you for everything you have done to help me grow as a swimmer and as a person. I’m incredibly thankful for all of the teammates, friends, and family who have supported me along the way. Finally, a huge thank you to Coach Hannah, Coach Noah, and Coach Abby for this amazing opportunity! I can’t wait for this next chapter and am so excited to be a Penguin! Go Penguins!
A senior at Richmond Hill High School in Richmond Hill, Georgia, Found has been a member of her school’s varsity swimming team since her freshman year. She also trains year-round with Savannah Swim Team, where she primarily specializes in sprint freestyle and butterfly.
The 2025-26 short course season saw her drop more than six seconds in the 200 free, nearly two seconds in both the 100 free and 100 fly, and a quarter of a second in the 50 free. At the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) 6A State Championships in February, she swam to runner-up in the 100 fly (56.31 – PB) and fifth in the 50 free (24.47 – then PB), and helped Richmond Hill place fourth in the 200 medley relay (25.26 fly split) and seventh in the 200 free relay (24.86 split). It was her first individual ‘A’ final and her first time cracking the top four in a relay event.
Found boasts lifetime bests of 24.32 in the 50 free, 52.94 in the 100 free, and 1:55.91 in the 200 free from various club meets throughout the season.

Found’s lifetime best in the 100 fly would have finished sixth in the ‘A’ final, while her time in the 100 free would have qualified for the ‘B’ final, setting her up to make an immediate impact for the Penguins with two full seasons of training still ahead before her first conference meet.
She is also not far off the 23.92 and 1:55.76 needed to earn second swims in the 50 and 200 free.
Found joins fellow sprint free and fly specialist Becca Soroka in committing to Youngstown State’s class of 2031 so far.
