A 10-year-old girl died on Monday from injuries she sustained after the driver of a pickup truck she was riding in crashed into a partially frozen creek in Kankakee County last week, authorities said.
Another child was also critically injured in the crash, authorities said, and the driver, 58-year-old Phyllis Moses of Pembroke Township was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Ombre Mangram, 10, of Pembroke Township died Monday at Chicago’s Comer Children’s Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Authorities did not provide any details regarding Mangram’s relationship to Moses.
Mangram was injured in a crash on Feb. 13 around 1:30 a.m. in the area of 3700 East Illinois Route 17.

“Incidents of this nature are especially concerning given the dangerous conditions posed by cold water and overnight temperatures,” Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement after the crash.
