Denison Men Grow Lead, Kenyon Women Sweep Swim Events On Night 2 At NCAC Championships

The Denison men went into night 2 with a lead while the Kenyon and Denison women were tied after night 1.

    Men’s Recap

    The Denison men won three out of the four events on night 2 in their home pool. Sophomore George Goins posted a 4:26.22 in the 500 freestyle for the win. Goins has been as fast as a 4:23.37 which he swam to win the NCAA Division III ‘B’ final last year .

    The 200 IM was a huge event for the program as Jack Hill led a 1-2-3 finish for Denison. Hill touched in a 1:47.02, ahead of Devin Testin (1:48.18) and Luke Swiggett (1:48.57). New to the NCAC this season, John Carroll freshman Jacob Florio was 4th in a 1:48.69, a program record.

    The final individual event of the night was won by Kenyon’s Djordje Dragojlovic as he touched in a 19.96 in the 50 free. Dragojlovic has been as fast as 19.53, a time that currently sits at the top of D3 this season. He was 3rd in the event with a 19.61 at 2025 NCAAs. Although Dragojlovic earned the win for Kenyon, Denison had a 2-3-4 finish with Nick Hensel (2nd, 20.03), Cam Blevins-Mohr (3rd, 20.20), and Samuel Hibbert (4th, 20.28).

    The Denison men closed the evening with a win in the 400 medley relay, defending their title from a year ago as the team touched in a 3:12.79. They were only half a second off the NCAC record of a 3:12.17 that their relay swam a year ago. This year’s relay consisted of Ben Bevill, Liam Nelson, Samuel Hibbert, and Jack Hill.

    Women’s Recap

    The Kenyon women had a huge night, sweeping all four swimming events. Senior Molly Haag kicked off the night with a win in the 500 free, touching in a 4:51.06. She earned the win after placing 2nd last year behind Quinn Brown of Denison, who notably was 2nd this year in a 4:53.65.

    Continuing the dominant night for Kenyon was Kelsey Van Eldik who won the 200 IM in a 2:03.72. That was just off her lifetime best 2:03.64 from midseason. Finishing 2nd was Denison’s Drue Thielking as she touched in a 2:04.67.

    Senior Lisa Torrevillas-Jouault won the 50 free for Denison in a 23.21, just out-touching teammate Kate Bogan who swam to 2nd in a 23.24. That marked a best time for Torrevillas-Jouault whose previous best was a 23.33 that she swam for 18th at 2025 D3 NCAAs.

    Kenyon’s 400 medley relay of Gwen Eisenbeis, Kelsey Van Eldik, Nora Kortuem, and Lisa Torrevillas-Jouault swam to a win in a 3:40.97. Torrevillas-Jouault notably anchored in a 49.79.

    Denison prevented the sweep of the whole night on the women’s side as Lu-si Minnich won the 1 meter diving event in a 421.30. Despite Denison earning the win, Kenyon had a huge boost from diving as the team went 2-3-4-5 compared to Denison’s 1-6.
