Day 20 of the Chicago Bears offseason. Happy Super Bowl Sunday, friends. If you are attending a party, I hope that it is a delightful time. If you are hosting, then I hope that you’re doing right by your guests and that everything goes swimmingly well. If you need a last-minute recipe, my friend Jim Cooks Food Good has you covered with plenty of ideas. And if you’re hanging out solo dolo, then I hope you are extra cozy.
However you’re enjoying Super Bowl LX, I hope you enjoy it to the fullest extent. Because, at this time next year, I hope to be full of angst and anxiety while trying to figure out how Chicago’s football team is going to win the whole freaking thing.
“Baby, let me tell you about the night we got our Super Bowl rings. You think it’d be glorious, right? The 49ers got to get their rings in Honolulu, Hawaii…so I’m thinking, ‘Well, this is going to be a big-time thing.’ I get the news we are having the ring ceremony at the Holiday Inn in Highwood, Illinois.
I show up at the dinner and [Bears coach] Mike Ditka is already half in the bag. We’re sitting there waiting to get the rings and before we get the ring, he’s already passed out in his plate of food sitting at the table with the McCaskeys. They start giving the rings out and I look at it — and it’s a nice ring, diamonds and gold. But I heard the NFL allocates $4,000 per ring, and the owners can put more money into it to make it nicer. How much do you think that ring cost the Bears? $4,000.”
Mike Tirico, who will call his first Super Bowl, is still marveling over Caleb Williams’ epic touchdown pass to Cole Kmet from the Divisional Round against the Rams. He even calls it “an all-time great moment.” No arguments here, Mike! (Sun-Times)

I’ve been thinking about this clip all week long:TEN of the ELEVEN starters on the Patriots defense weren't full-time starters a year ago. ? Insane. How are they a Top 5 defense? pic.twitter.com/aMoFI4nkql
— Kay Adams (@heykayadams) January 30, 2026 I didn’t realize that 10 of the 11 starters on the Patriots defense weren’t full-time starters last year. That factoid blows my mind. Despite the significant turnover, New England’s defense finished having allowed the fourth-fewest points and eighth-fewest yards. This is impressive, especially when you consider that the Pats had the seventh-fewest sacks — which was tied with the Bears, Bengals, Cowboys, and Chiefs. It wouldn’t be a perfect blueprint for Chicago to follow. But it is something that should give fans hope that the front office can make the right moves to elevate this unit in 2026. If you are looking for inspiration on the other side of the Super Bowl spectrum, perhaps you will take solace knowing that the Seattle Seahawks have made it to the biggest game on the football calendar despite rostering Velus Jones Jr. (he was flexed onto the game day roster from the practice squad on Saturday) while also having a former Minnesota Vikings QB (Sam Darnold) as their triggerman. Knowing stuff like that makes it feel like anything is possible — even a future Bears Super Bowl trip. Compared to other years, the Super Bowl hype has been tame. But I still got a kick out of this:It’s almost time….and NFL Network has gotten you ready. Seahawks vs Patriots…a week of hype recapped! pic.twitter.com/GbN3guLXF7
— Steve Wyche (@wyche89) February 8, 2026 On the one hand, there is a part of me that doesn’t have a rooting interest in this game. But on the other hand, I know that, from a narrative perspective, the best-case scenario moving forward does not involve (1) the Patriots winning yet another championship or (2) Drake Maye being the first quarterback from the NFL Draft Class of 2024 to win a title. So with that in mind, I think I’m rooting for the Seahawks in this one. If anything, the idea of Vikings fans being sad that they let a Super Bowl-winning quarterback walk away for nothing will help keep me warm in the winter. With that being said, I have a sneaky suspicion that the Patriots will find a way to win this one.BN BEARS ON SOCIAL MEDIA: Facebook | Twitter | BlueSky
Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images This is the best thing I’ve read regarding the Super Bowl halftime show and its performing artist, Bad Bunny:#MyLatest — The way an *American citizen* has this many people shook for a single performance will be studied for generations. @sanbenito t.co/JkLhExoKw4 #SuperBowl
— Justin Tinsley (@JustinTinsley) February 4, 2026 The last few Super Bowl halftime shows have been geared to my musical sensibilities, which is wonderful and a welcome change to all those years of not being catered to as a fan. I know Benito isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But when Super Bowl halftime acts weren’t for me, was I bothered? Did I throw a fit online? Did I make it my sole personality trait to share how much I wasn’t a fan? No. Instead, I waited my turn for my preferred acts to have their time to shine. And along the way, I learned some things about music genres and artists that I wouldn’t have otherwise been exposed to over the years. Maybe you should expand your horizons like I did? So if you’re not into the halftime act, maybe use that time to go to the restroom, take a walk around the block, have a conversation with a friend at the party you’re attending. Figure out who made your favorite dish and how you can make it yourself. I’m sure our friends at BN Fantasy have something you can play during the halftime intermission.
