With more than a week of events across the Bay Area ahead of Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8, here’s how residents and visitors can navigate the crowded streets of Santa Clara and surrounding cities as thousands of football fans arrive in the region for the big game.
Super Bowl LX will take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, welcoming fans from across the country for football’s biggest event of the year. But before the game, cities across the Bay Area will be kicking off celebrations with a blitz of music and sporting events.
The main event
No matter where in the Bay Area fans are coming to the game from, there are many options for how to make the trek to Levi’s Stadium on the day of the Super Bowl.

The Bay Area’s public transportation systems are gearing up to move the visitors across the region, including the Valley Transportation Authority, Bay Area Rapid Transit and Caltrain.
If you are staying in Santa Clara County, the VTA will be adding 22 additional light rail trains heading to Levi’s Stadium, offering transportation options from as far away as Mountain View. Riders can make it to the stadium via the orange, green or blue lines. The trains will offer two hours of return service following the game. VTA also offers several bus routes that head to the game, including the 55, 57 and 59, according to the agency.
An adult VTA day pass costs $7.50. A three-day pass costs $17.
Fans coming in from the East Bay can ride BART to the Milpitas Station, where they can connect with VTA to travel to Lick Mill Station, about a 10-minute walk from the stadium. Fans traveling from San Francisco or the Peninsula have the option to take Caltrain to the Mountain View Station, then transfer to VTA to the Great America Station near the stadium, or they can take BART to the Millbrae Station then transfer to Caltrain then to the VTA for the final stretch.
Caltrain fares vary between $4 and $15.25 for adults depending on the distance traveled. BART fares also vary based on distance and can be calculated with their online tool.
Capitol Corridor trains are also offering incoming and outgoing routes directly to Great America Station Feb. 8. For that day, reservations are required and other ticket types, including monthly and multi-ride, will not be accepted.
For those planning to drive, parking options for the game go on sale Jan. 30, but be sure to plan ahead around road closures. In Santa Clara, three stages of road closures will impact drivers in the days surrounding the Super Bowl. Beginning Jan. 5, Stars & Stripes Drive will be closed to the public. Tasman Drive between Great America Parkway and Calle Del Sol will follow with closure on Jan. 28. On the day of the game, closed roads will include Old Ironside Drive, Old Glory Lane, Great America Parkway between Bunker Hill Lane and Patrick Henry Drive.
Those using rideshare apps should type in either “Levi’s Stadium” or “Super Bowl LX” into the app. Dropoffs will take place at Red Lot 7, according to the NFL.
San Jose events
To get to the opening ceremonies at the San Jose Convention Center, attendees from the Peninsula or the East Bay can connect from BART’s Berryessa Station to VTA’s 500 Rapid bus to Diridon, disembark at Santa Clara and 1st Street, then walk five blocks to the convention center. Attendees from the Peninsula and San Francisco can alternatively take Caltrain to the Diridon Station, then transfer to the VTA’s Green Line N in the direction of the convention center.
For those driving, the convention center has a public parking lot, and there are other city parking lots within walking distance.
San Francisco events
With many Super Bowl events also taking place in San Francisco, fans will want to reverse their game-day trek to make it to the city.
Many events – including the Super Bowl Experience, the Pro Bowl Games, BAHC SF Fan Zone and the celebrity flag football game – will take place at the Moscone Center or Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco. To get there, Santa Clara and San Mateo county residents can take the Caltrain to the 4th and King station in San Francisco. From there, it is only a 15 minute walk to the Moscone Center and the garden, or riders can take a MUNI bus or train the rest of the way.
