Thrash metal band Megadeth has dropped a new single called “Puppet Parade” just days before the band’s final studio album, Megadeth, is released on Friday.
The new track is the fourth single from the upcoming album and continues to build excitement as fans prepare for the band’s last musical chapter.
The band is also starting a farewell tour that will run for 3 to 5 years, giving fans one last chance to see them live. This final phase is happening because frontman Dave Mustaine is dealing with Dupuytren’s contracture, a condition that makes it harder for him to move his fingers.

‘Puppet Parade’ Sets the Tone for Megadeth’s Final Album
“Puppet Parade” shows Megadeth’s classic fast riffs and tight rhythms, but it also sounds darker and more reflective than some of their earlier songs.

Megadeth shared the full track list for the album, confirming the songs fans will hear when the album drops:

In a press release, Megadeth announced last August that this album would be their last. Mustaine said he wants to leave while he is still on top, and he thanked fans for supporting the band for more than 40 years, according to Blabbermouth.
He explained that most musicians don’t get to retire the way they want, but Megadeth is choosing to end on their own terms. He said he wants fans to celebrate the band’s legacy rather than feel sad.
“Don’t be mad, don’t be sad, be happy for us all, come celebrate with me these next few years.”
Mustaine also said the band changed the music world by creating a new style and influencing how guitar is played.
Megadeth’s lineup for the final album includes Dave Mustaine, guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari, drummer Dirk Verbeuren and bassist James LoMenzo. Mäntysaari joined the band more than two years ago and has played on several recent songs.
Moreover, Megadeth recently released a music video for the single “Let There Be Shred”, which features Mustaine in a mixed martial arts fight alongside performance clips.
In addition, Megadeth hosted a fan event called “Let There Be Shred,” where they played new songs and performed acoustic classics. This event gave fans a preview of the album before it was officially released.
