After a nearly 20 year partnership together, prominent publishing house HarperCollins has confirmed they will no be selling or reprinting comedian and children’s book author David Walliams’ back catalog of books, according to Deadline.
The publishing giant had initially confirmed they would no longer be publishing any new work from Walliams last year after alleged misconduct. By confirming they will no longer be printing any work from Walliams’ past bibliography, HarperCollins has officially dropped the author in every major capacity.
As per Deadline, the talent agency YMU is also no longer actively representing Walliams as a client, having removed his profile from their official website.
The new development comes nearly a year after a report from The Daily Telegraph that alleged Walliams was the subject of an internal investigation where he reportedly engaged in offensive behavior towards juniorfemale HarperCollins employees.
Per the newspaper, former HarperCollins employees alleged that they were advised to work with Walliams in “pairs,” and to never visit his personal residence.
Walliams has responded to the allegations in a statement shared with The Telegraph, with a spokesperson stating, “David has never been informed of any allegations raised against him by HarperCollins. He was not party to any investigation or given any opportunity to answer questions. David strongly denies that he has behaved inappropriately and is taking legal advice.”
An established star in British media, Walliams first rose to prominence in the early 2000s with his work on the BBC shows Little Britain and Come Fly with Me with fellow comedian Matt Lucas.
