Swim of the Week is brought to you by arena, a SwimSwam partner.

Disclaimer: Swim of the Week is not meant to be a conclusive selection of the best overall swim of the week, but rather one Featured Swim to be explored in deeper detail. The Swim of the Week is an opportunity to take a closer look at the context of one of the many fast swims this week, perhaps a swim that slipped through the cracks as others grabbed the headlines, or a race we didn’t get to examine as closely in the flood of weekly meets.

Alabama senior Charlotte Rosendale hit a major milestone during the Crimson Tide’s dual with Georgia Tech on Saturday, breaking the 1:00 barrier in the women’s 100 breaststroke.

Rosendale put up a time of 59.92 en route to winning the event at last weekend’s dual, lowering her previous personal best of 1:00.66 set at the Georgia Fall Invitational in November.

Coming into the season, the 21-year-old’s best time stood at 1:01.24, set at the 2024 UGA Invite.

Entering college in the 2022-23 season, Rosendale owned a personal best of 1:01.61 in the 100 breast, set at the 2021 Winter Junior Championships, and it took until her junior year at Alabama before she reset it. However, since first cracking that mark in November 2024, she’s now been quicker than 1:01.61 a total of five times in the last 14 months.

She also cracks Alabama’s top-10 performers of all-time with this performance, slotting into 10th.

Despite her breakthrough swim in the 100 breast coming this season, Rosendale took a big step last year in the sprint free events, most notably setting a best time and placing 14th in the 50 free at the 2025 SECs (22.10) and splitting 21.61 at SECs and then 21.64 at NCAAs on Alabama’s 200 free relay.

Rosendale will likely still need to drop a bit of time in the 100 breast to earn an individual invite to the 2026 NCAAs, with last year’s invite time coming in at 59.51, but she’s now under the qualifying standard (1:00.30) and will have the opportunity to go even faster next month at SECs.

In November at the Georgia Fall Invite, she also set a personal best in the 100 free (48.97) and a season-best in the 50 free (22.17). During the dual with GT on Saturday, she placed 2nd in the 100 free (49.28), led off the 200 free relay in 22.32, and split 59.47 on the breast leg of Alabama’s ‘B’ 400 medley relay–more than a second quicker than their ‘A’ relay split.

Between her sprint free improvements and a steady climb in the 100 breast, Rosendale has put herself firmly into contention for an NCAA spot, with SECs looming as her next—and most important—opportunity to make a move.
