San Andreas, CA — The board of supervisors in Calaveras County passed a resolution today celebrating the historic season of the Calaveras Redhawks football team.
Calaveras High defeated Bishop Union on December 13 (42-21) to win the 5A championship.
It marked the first state football title in the school’s history.
A special resolution was read aloud by supervisors Autumn Andahl and Gary Tofanelli with the players and coaches seated in the audience.
Afterward, Head Coach Manny Mossa stated, “The one thing I’d really like to say is, ‘thank you,’ to our amazing community, and the board of supervisors. It has been a run. We really appreciate the support.”
The supervisors praised the team for the joy and pride they have instilled in the community.
Supervisor Andahl added, “Thank you for exemplifying ‘Calaveras Strong,’ and making us proud. I am an alumni, and I have children that go to school with you, and my nephew is here. It was our greatest honor to follow you to LA and watch you play down there. Thank you, and keep on making us proud.”
The team and coaches then posed for a picture with the five board members.

PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING AND CONGRATULATING THE CALAVERAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM ON WINNING THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ON DECEMBER 13, 2025
WHEREAS, the Calaveras High School football team completed a historic season culminating in a decisive 42-21 victory in the State Championship game on December 13, 2025; and
WHEREAS, this triumph marked the first-ever state football title in school history, a milestone achievement that will forever be remembered in the annals of Calaveras athletics; and
WHEREAS, the team’s success was built upon resilience, discipline, and unity, as the players overcame challenges throughout the season and demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship and determination; and
WHEREAS, the championship game showcased the team’s talent and preparation, with standout performances on both offense and defense, including explosive scoring drives and critical stops that secured the victory; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach and coaching staff provided steadfast leadership, instilling in the athletes the values of perseverance, teamwork, and pride in representing their community; and
WHEREAS, the team’s accomplishment brought immense joy and pride to the entire Calaveras community, inspiring students, families, alumni, and residents who rallied behind the team during its historic run; and
WHEREAS, the Calaveras Enterprise described the victory as the completion of a “historic run,” underscoring the significance of this achievement not only for the athletes but for the school and county at large;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors do hereby recognize and congratulate the Calaveras High School football team, their coaches, and all those who supported them, for their extraordinary achievement in becoming State Champions on December 13, 2025; and.
