I-70 closed in Glenwood Canyon for safety concerns, police activity

Interstate 70 was closed Tuesday morning in both directions along Glenwood Canyon for unspecified safety concerns and police activity, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

As of 7 a.m. Tuesday, I-70 was closed between exit 119 for No Name near Glenwood Springs and exit 147 in Gypsum for “safety concerns,” according to state transportation officials.

The closure is related to ongoing police activity near mile marker 125 for Hanging Lake, according to Garfield County emergency officials.

Additional information about the police activity causing the closure was not available.
