The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has refused to reconsider its stance on relocation of the team’s T20 World Cup 2026 games from India to Sri Lanka. As per reports, the board issued a statement on Tuesday after a video conference with the International Cricket Council (ICC). The drama between the BCB, BCCI and the ICC has been going on for over a week amid soaring geopolitical tensions between India and Bangladesh.

As per ESPNCricinfo, the BCB said in a statement that it reaffirmed its stance to the ICC on not traveling to India for the T20 World Cup 2026 owing to security concerns for its players. The board has reportedly asked the ICC once again to considers its request to relocate Bangladesh’s matches from India to Sri Lanka or a another country.
“During the discussions, the BCB reaffirmed its position regarding the decision not to travel to India, citing security concerns. The board also reiterated its request for the ICC to consider relocating Bangladesh’s matches outside India,” BCB said in a statement.
The statement further claims that the BCB’s position of the matter remains unchanged despite the ICC urging them to reconsider their stance as the itienary for the T20 World Cup was already finalized. The board further claimed that both parties will engage in further discussions to explore possible solutions to resolve the stalemate.
“While the ICC highlighted that the tournament itinerary has already been announced and requested the BCB to reconsider its stance, the board’s position remains unchanged. Both parties agreed that discussions will continue to explore possible solutions. The BCB remains committed to safeguarding the well-being of its players, officials and staff while engaging constructively with the ICC to address the matter,” the statement added.
On Monday, the BCCI claimed that it had recieved no instructions from the ICC over relocation of Bangladesh’s T20 WC matches. The tournament is scheduled to begin from February 6, with Bangladesh scheduled to play three games in Kolkata and one match in Mumbai.
