When the Blackhawks Prospects Play in the World Junior Championship Quarterfinals

All three of the Blackhawks’ prospects who are playing in the 2026 World Junior Championship advanced to the knock-out stage, and all four of the quarterfinal games are being played today!

Anton Frondell and Sweden will play Latvia at 1 PM CT. Václav Nestrašil and Czechia face Switzerland at 3:30 PM CT. AJ Spellacy and the United States will host Finland at 5 PM CT.

Blackhawks prospects among tournament leaders

Spellacy’s four points (one goal, three assists) are tied for fourth on the United States behind Will Zellers (7), Brodie Ziemer (6) and James Hagens (5).

    Nestrašil continues to shine for Czechia. He had another multi-point game in the final match of pool play, giving him six points in four games. He’s tied for ninth in the entire field with those six points, and is just two points off the leaders heading to the quarterfinals.

    Frondell, meanwhile, is tied for the tournament lead with three power play goals (with Thomas Chrenko of Slovakia). His three goals are tied for sixth in the tournament and two off the lead. Frondell’s 21 shots on net are also the highest mark in the entire field, three more than Chrenko and Adam Jiříček.
