Luther Burden III is having a spectacular first season as a pro. The rookie from Mizzou has 44 catches, 617 receiving yards, and a pair of touchdown catches. He also has five carries (two of which went for first downs!) and 27 receiving yards. Given his importance to the passing game, I don’t think we’ll see much from Burden as a ball-carrier moving forward. He hasn’t been given a hand-off in either of the last two games. And with the duo of D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai running through and past would-be tacklers, there is no need to put Burden in harm’s way.

One of the things we will be watching going into the season finale against the Detroit Lions is Burden’s health. Burden was slow to get up after the final play of Week 17, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter reporting that the rookie is dealing with a quad injury. And while Schefty does not deem it to be a serious issue, it is still one worth monitoring when the first injury report of the week drops on Wednesday.
