We’re less than a week away from the NFL trade deadline, and while the Bears have already made their biggest splash, many insiders speculate there’s more to come. Perhaps an edge rusher, perhaps a cornerback. Perhaps even a move where the Bears trade the player to recoup draft capital, given the Sunday evening rumor that Chicago’s backup quarterback, Tyson Bagent, is on the Baltimore Ravens’ radar.

On Baltimore’s quarterback situation, Ravens head coach Jessee Minter said Tuesday afternoon that undrafted free agent Joe Fagnano will start when the team takes on the Jacksonville Jaguars Thursday night. That doesn’t mean the Ravens aren’t still interested in Bagent reuniting with Declan Doyle, but it does throw some water on the theory. If Baltimore loses that game with Fagnano under center, they’re heading into Week 10 at 4-5. By then, almost two weeks from now, Tyler Huntley, a quarterback who has been there for some time and serviceable in relief of Lamar Jackson when necessary, could be ready to return. He could also be on injured reserve, something Minter noted was possible today. If Huntley doesn’t go to IR and can play in Week 10, is sending the Bears a draft pick for Bagent worth it? How much of an upgrade would Bagent be over Huntley? Probably not much, honestly. But if Huntley is placed on IR with Jackson, and it’s the Joe Fagnano show for the next month, at least. Fagnano looks like a guy who can’t win on Thursday against Jacksonville; the need for a swap with Chicago for a guy like Bagent, whom OC Decal Doyle knows, becomes a real possibility with days left before the trade deadline. At this point, it feels like Baltimore, on a short week, prefers to see what happens with Huntley’s injury and whether they can scheme Fagnano into serviceable before they part with another pick. Probably the smart play, honestly. Dec 7, 2025; Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA; Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent (17) during warmups prior to the game against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. The veteran defensive back just served a one-game suspension for spitting at Raiders tight end Brock Bowers two weeks ago. Before the suspension, Gardner started six games for the Bills and logged 26 tackles, two pass breakups, and one interception. Gardner-Johnson played most of the 2025 season with the Bears, signing with the team around this time last year and finishing the season with them. He played under Dennis Allen in New Orleans from 2019-21. He joined Chicago out of necessity after Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon dealt with injuries, and he played 10 games, recording 51 tackles, three sacks, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. I’m not advocating for the Bears to sign Garder-Johnson, but he was productive last season and is familiar with Allen’s defense. Oh, and he wouldn’t cost the Bears anything but cash for the remainder of the season. Nov 9, 2025; Chicago, Illinois, USA; Chicago Bears safety C.J. If you want to know how far the Bears have come, look no further than this post-game write-up from Luis two years ago today, detailing a 29-9 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, which he was so kind as to remind us of this afternoon in the group chat. “The Bears showed us who they were — and it is who they’ve been for the better part of the last two seasons. An offense with no direction, with plays that don’t seem to have a purpose. A defense that is good, but gives up big plays at the worst times. This team can’t get out of its own way, and it shows up in penalties and all sorts of other mistakes. I feel awful for anyone who spent their time and/or money watching that game,” Luis wrote that day. I’m very glad we’re far removed from the Bears of yesteryear, but especially the Bears of that year. And apparently so are Bears fans, who spent some hard-earned scratch, and a lot of it I would assume, to make the trip to Seattle for MNF last night.

And #BearsNation literally took over LUMEN FIELD last night unlike anything I have ever seen from OPP fan base at Lumen Field where I havs see several games over last 10 szns. pic.twitter.com/eKt7iTC3PZ
