All Weld RE-4 School District schools will follow a modified schedule on Wednesday due to a potential power outage.
The area is expected to experience strong winds and with dry conditions and warm temperatures also predicted, there is a potential for wildfire.
Xcel Energy will likely adhere to “enhanced powerline safety settings” and shut off power to prevent wildfire, according to a Weld RE-4 School District announcement. Xcel said in a late Tuesday afternoon new release the shut-off could begin about 10 a.m., impacting around 52,000 customers in Boulder, Clear Creek, Jefferson, Larimer and Weld counties.
As a result, Weld RE-4 School District will operate on alternate schedules for Wednesday.
