DJ Moore Wants to Win, Mendoza’s Heisman Speech, Chiefs Eliminaiton Coming Today? And Other Bears Bullets

The Chicago Bears haven’t hosted a game at Soldier Field with temperatures this frigid since Christmas Eve 2022. So, I implore you to bundle up if you are going out to the ballgame today. Please, please, please stay warm and be safe.

It would be something if history had to repeat itself today:

If the surface of Soldier Field is frozen for this Sunday's arctic #Bears-Browns game, perhaps crews can douse the field with gasoline and set it ablaze to thaw it out like they did at Wrigley Field 88 years ago this week. pic.twitter.com/HnTzA1LOec

    — Kevin Gallagher (@KevG163) December 13, 2025 I’m looking forward to seeing how DJ Moore bounces back from his Week 14 dud against the Green Bay Packers. Especially after reading this quote (via ESPN’s Courtney Cronin) from the Bears wideout when discussing his diminishing stat line: “It doesn’t bother me. I’d rather win than have all these amazing stats, and we’ve been doing that.”

CHICAGO BEARS WEEK 15 PREVIEW VS. CLEVELAND BROWNS

Moore was clearly frustrated at the end of last week’s Packers loss. And while I know many attributed it to not getting the ball on the game’s final play, the look FOX’s cameras caught that went viral gave off the vibe of someone who wanted a win so badly that it was agonzing not to pull it off. Better yet, that was the look of someone who had become accustomed to winning in those situations that a loss was that much more painful. As far as I’m concerned, I’m glad players let that loss hurt. Now is the time to turn that pain into a gain. Let loose on the Browns and use that defeat to fuel a Week 15 victory. The rookie quarterback is coming off a season-best performance against the Titans in which he threw for 364 yards and three touchdowns. Bears Defensive Coordinator Dennis Allen will be tempted to blitz the rookie signal caller, but there is a part of me that wonders if Chicago’s defense is better off sinking into coverage and preying on poor throws. We’ve seen Chicago defensive backs (notably, safety Kevin Byard III) bait quarterbacks into INTs this season. It wouldn’t surprise me to see that happen at least once today. Meanwhile, Mark Potash (Sun-Times) writes about how Sanders has gone from being QB4 on the Browns’ depth chart to starting in December. It is quite the arc for Sanders. And while I love a good story, I’d love for the Bears to help Shedeur author another chapter of riding the struggle bus. He can get back on the good foot in Weeks 16, 17, and 18. But today, we root for his downfall. Other rooting interests today: Titans (go soften up the Bears’ next opponent), Rams (put some distance between the Bears and Lions, please), Broncos (they’re playing the Packers, so you knew this was coming), and Colts (the Philip Rivers factor + it dings the Seahawks in the playoff race). OPE! Rookie receiver Luther Burden III has a lighter wallet this week:

The NFL fined Bears WR Luther Burden III $11,075 for unnecessary roughness — his role in this altercation last week. Only Packers DB Keisean Nixon was flagged; Nixon was not fined. pic.twitter.com/EH5wDXN0Xp

    — Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) December 13, 2025 This tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter pointing out that Micah Parsons has rushed the passer 307 times since the last time he drew a holding penalty on a pass rush in Week 3 bugged me. Because when Khalil Mack was with the Bears and not drawing holding calls, the narrative was “they can’t call holding on every play.” But now it’s a problem becaue a Packers star isn’t getting the calls? Cry me a river.

Parsons’ stat line vs. the Bears in Week 15: 0 sacks, 1 tackle, 0 tackles-for-loss, 2 quarterback hits. I’m not sure if Myles Garrett can be held to that line today, but I am curious to see how the Bears go about slowing down the all-world pass rusher. Perhaps we will see some more snaps from reserve lineman Theo Benedet. ESPN’s Adam Schefter lays out how the Kansas City Chiefs can be eliminated from playoff contention TODAY:

Here is the way the Chiefs can be eliminated from postseason contention today:?Chiefs lose to the Chargers?Buffalo beats or ties the Patriots.?Jaguars beat or tie the Jets.?Texans beat the Cardinals. If all four of those scenarios play out, the Chiefs are out. pic.twitter.com/YCqUDnq8rS

    — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) December 14, 2025 To go from appearing in seven consecutive AFC Championship Games to missing the playoffs altogether would be jarring. Jonathan Jones (CBS Sports) points out that this late-season run for the Carolina Panthers is the franchise’s most important stretch of games in a decade. Wouldn’t it be something to see the Bears and Panthers make the postseason just three years after their gargantuan trade? Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza is your 2025 Heisman Trophy winner — and is also quite the speech-giver:

Fernando Mendoza after winning Heisman: "I want every kid out there who feels overlooked, underestimated to know, I was you… You don't need the most stars, hype… You just need discipline, heart, and people who believe in you. And you need to believe in your own abilities."[image or embed]
