The Auburn Tigers are entering a new regime out on the plains under head coach Alex Golesh, following the firing of former head coach Hugh Freeze after an abysmal 5-7 campaign.
Golesh’s arrival has brought a renewed sense of optimism for the future of Auburn football, but there are several players who have elected to move on via the transfer portal following Freeze’s departure.
One such player is second-year wide receiver and Alexander City, Alabama native Malcolm Simmons, who entered his name into the portal earlier on Saturday, according to Auburn insider Justin Hokanson.

A speedster on the outside, Simmons played in all 12 games as both a true freshman in 2024 and as a sophomore in 2025, racking up 908 yards and 6 touchdowns for the Tigers across both of his seasons with the team.
He joins several other Auburn players who have already put their names in the portal, including quarterback Jackson Arnold, fellow wide receivers Horation Fields and Perry Thompson, and defensive back A’Mon Lane-Ganus.
