Nine arrested in San Jose gang-motivated crime sting

SAN JOSE – A large-scale operation targeting gang-motivated crimes in San Jose culminated in the arrest of five men and four teenage boys, authorities announced Wednesday.

The crimes, many of which were related to vandalism and firearms, happened between September and November, according to San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih.

    Shih said detectives identified seven primary suspects responsible for the crimes: a 20-year-old man, two 18-year-old men, a 17-year-old boy, two 16-year-old boys and a 14-year-old boy, all of San Jose.

    On Nov. 19, detectives arrested the 20-year-old man and the two 16-year-old boys in San Jose.

    Detectives searched the 20-year-old man’s home and “located a loaded firearm, large quantities of narcotics and two homemade improvised explosives,” Shih said.

    During a search of one 16-year-old boy’s home, detectives arrested a 27-year-old San Jose man on suspicion of possessing illegal narcotics for sale, according to Shih.

    On Dec. 3, detectives arrested the two 18-year-old men, the 17-year-old boy and the 14-year-old boy in San Jose.

    Shih said detectives also found a stolen firearm at the home of each boy.

    During a search of one 18-year-old man’s home, detectives arrested a 33-year-old San Jose man for an outstanding warrant, Shih said, adding that he was on parole at the time.

    Detectives booked the men into Santa Clara County jail and the boys into juvenile hall.
