Meanwhile, Punjab Kings head coach Ricky Ponting is unlikely to be present at the auction table. The former Australia captain is contracted with the Seven Network in Australia for the ongoing Ashes commentary, and the third Test begins the very next day - December 17 in Adelaide.
Additionally, Punjab Kings are unlikely to be very active in this year's auction. They have retained most of their players in the squad and only have INR 11.5 crore left in the purse. They can sign up a maximum of four players including two overseas players.
